Staying inside with toddlers + Newborn during a Pandemic

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has taken over the globe these past couple of months. Just now hitting the U.S and people are having to stay indoors. I’m sure you all know what I’m referring to it’s all over the news and social media. The government is encouraging social distancing if outside, for places to be shut down, and to stay inside to help stop the spread of the virus.

What does this mean for a mom? Time to get to cooking and cleaning messes ALL DAY. On top of that finding ways to entertain your children. Well as a mom of Twin boy toddlers this is always the case. Staying home most of the day because going out is challenging alone, cooking and cleaning non stop. For my fellow moms who are looking for those ways to keep your toddlers entertained I have a couple ideas for you.

First thing first, we try to stay clear from TV now since the twins are older. We do play Sirius XM on a Bluetooth speaker for them because they do LOVE music (and yes we let them listen to all music) their favorite is yummy by JB lol. If you do let your children watch tv, PBS kids has a lineup of good toddler shows. YouTube also has videos you can look up that are nursery rhymes and learning the ABCS. https://youtu.be/71h8MZshGSs this is a good one!

Now here are some good hands on things to try at home. We have tried these all and the twins LOVE these ideas. So JELLO has these cool kits you can buy that come with the jello and molds to make it in. We bought a animal, LEGO blocks, ocean kits. The boys love the LEGO ones the best since they can actually stack them on top of each other. Just keep in mind that JELLO can be sticky so baths after are common.

Second we bought a bubble machine and let the boys have an inside bubble party in our living room. Make sure to put some towels down as this gets wet also. Not recommended for hardwood floors or tile without towels because it does get slippery and we don’t need any reason to go to the ER.

Third we have a water table we bought from Walmart. This has helped us get plenty of outside time with the stay at home order in place. We also bought some plastic balls to throw in the water to add more fun!

Fourth I made tons of sensory bags for Raimy. I use the ziploc bags from Walmart and put some water and marbles. Another example I put slime into another ziploc for her. I just place these in front of her when she’s on the floor and she’s having a blast for hours. Just remember to keep an eye on them while using these. I have had one busy, Raimy has a strong punch lol

Fifth we made a fort in the boys room out of old blankets just to add some fun before bedtime. We hung some string lights and play soft music. This really helps get them a little more tired before bed.

Those are just my favorite things we’ve done. I also use Pinterest daily and will link mine on my main blog site. If you try any of these be sure to tag us on Instagram @thenuneztribe. Thank you so much for reading and don’t forget to subscribe for more post to follow. 😊
